Minimum Qualifications
All applicants must
meet the following:

Must be a United States citizen

Must possess a valid driver's license

Must be at least 21 years of age
-
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
-
Must meet all the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) requirements for certification in the State of Idaho
-
60 college credits from an accredited institution
-
(3) years active duty military service, with an honorable discharge

Automatic Disqualifiers
The items listed below include factors for which applicants may be automatically disqualified from the hiring process. Please keep in mind that a thorough and complete background investigation is completed for each and every applicant prior to receiving a conditional job offer. Based on the findings of the investigation, other factors (not listed below) may also lead an applicant to be disqualified from the hiring process.
Personal Conduct:

Lying on the application, background information or failing to complete the form

Documented disciplinary problems, of a serious nature, with previous employers
-
Documented abuse of sick leave with previous employers
-
Military dismissal for a bad conduct charge, dishonorable discharge or administrative discharge other than honorable from the military service.
Drug Use:
-
Any occasion of illegally manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance
-
Use of Marijuana, Cannabis, Hashish, Hash Oil or THC in synthetic and natural forms, Performance Enhancing Drugs or Psilocybin (Mushrooms) within the past 3 years

Use of any controlled substance, including but not limited to: Amphetamines, Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Hallucinogens, Opiates, Spice, Bath Salts, Synthetic Drugs or other Narcotics; if 5 or less occurrences, within the past 5 years; if more than 5 occurrences, within the past 10 years

"Huffing" of any substance, including but not limited to: Gasoline, Glue, Paint, and Paint Thinner on more than 2 occasions within the past 5 years
Traffic Offenses & Criminal Convictions:

More than 5 moving traffic violation convictions during the 5 years prior to application

A conviction of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) within the past 5 years
-
Proven allegations of Domestic Violence, whether criminally charged or not
-
Misdemeanor convictions within the past 5 years
-
Any Felony convictions
